60th Birthday Review.

60th Birthday Review.  Yesterday was my 60th birthday. A milestone of sorts, and yet I never thought much about these anniversary days and milestones.

Yesterday was a day not unlike any other day around here. Another day of writing, another day of worry about rent and food, another day of applications to potential employers and of course answering lot’s of Happy Birthday Greetings from the 80 or so of my Facebook friends who proffered greetings.

I’m most appreciative of all of those who took the time to send me birthday greetings. What was interesting was none of my family were aware or acknowledged my special day. Also the Amazon Wish List that I’d created and promoted to anyone who wanted to send me a birthday gift, sits gathering cobwebs.

I’m disappointed and a bit hurt, and this too shall pass. Now begins a new year and new possibilities.

Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI, Vail
The Burton US Open, which first took place in 1982, is now the longest-running snowboarding competition in the world, attracting the world’s top competitors. After taking place on the east coast for 30 years, the event will now take center stage at Vail Mountain beginning in 2013. And like the sport itself, the event has morphed and changed over the past three decades – changes that not only included moving mountain locations from Suicide Six to Snow Valley to Stratton, but also changes that addressed the level of snowboarding and needs of the riders each year. An Interesting Couple of Days.

An interesting couple of days for me to start the new year. New Years day was sort of uneventful save the lovely and talented lady of the house, having some shortness of breath.

Wednesday morning she woke up again having an issue breathing so time to make an appointment with the Doctor. Shortly after being seen by the Doctor, she was shipped off to the emergency room.
Exempla Emergency Room

After a plethora of tests and overnight on telemetry the hospital released her to follow up with a cardiologist. All the tests showed no problems and yet she continues to have arrhythmia issues.

Welcome to 2013 again raised its interesting head with the failure of our modem. We have DSL service. with CenturyLink. Our previous modem, was an ActionTec M1000 and we’d had it four years. Having suddenly failed I needed a replacement. The new device is a NETGEAR ADSL2+.

So far things are working fine in spite of the five hours it took to get the failed modem diagnosed and the new modem installed. I seem to remember that this is now 2013 and technology companies are still not grasping the concept of plug and play.

Christmas Break for Podcasters.

It’s a “Christmas Break for Podcasters.” looking at my podcast list in iTunes.

The only up to date on if from Mac OS Ken and that is simply a New Years greeting. I guess it’s time once again to clean out and update my list of podcasts.

I do like the ones I’ve got listed and yet these folks are falling behind in their content creation. I might even settle for some, “Best Of,” shows. Or how about putting together a topical show?

There now I’m falling back into my former life as a Radio DJ and Radio Show producer. Where does it say that just because it’s the Christmas holiday’s, that people simply stop listening to their iPods or other mobile devices? Anyone…anyone?

Ok, tomorrow starts a new year and I expect things to be brought back up to speed.
