Burton Snowboards is thrilled to announce that Seattle-based hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and singer/songwriter Santigold will both perform FREE concerts at the 31st annual Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI, taking place from February 25 – MarchScreen shot 2013-02-14 at 11.51.42 AM 2 at Vail Mountain.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will kick-off the Burton US Open free concert series on Friday, March 1st following the world-class US Open slopestyle finals at Vail. Known for their electrifying live performances, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ hit single “Thrift Shop” is currently number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the third straight week.

On Saturday, March 2nd, Santigold will take to the stage for a free show following the legendary Burton US Open halfpipe finals. With two critically acclaimed albums to her name, Santigold also created the song “Girls,” which is the lead single for the album Girls Soundtrack, Vol. 1: Music from the HBO Original Series.

After the Santigold show, the good times continue with the official Burton US Open closing party featuring DJs Skratch Bastid and Cosmo Baker. As one of Canada’s most treasured DJs, Skratch Bastid is a turntable champion and crowd favorite recognized worldwide for his beloved remixes. And widely considered one of the top party DJs on the planet, Cosmo Baker is a master of everything from hip-hop to disco & funk to electronic music.

The 2013 Burton US Open is the must-attend snowboard event of the season where crowds can watch world-class, Olympic-level snowboarding competitions by day and incredible music acts by night – all for FREE at Vail Mountain in Colorado.

Official Burton US Open Closing Party – Saturday, March 2nd

Skratch Bastid and Cosmo Baker will headline from 10:00pm – 1:30am (MST) at the Dobson Ice Arena located at Vail’s Lionshead. The 18+ party is free to attend but a ticket is required for entry. Tickets can be picked up at the Burton stores at Lionshead or Vail Village, as well as the Burton Stone Hut at Golden Peak and Burton Airstream in Solaris. announce an impressive list of confirmed riders, all on deck to compete at the sport’s most legendary event taking place in Vail, Colorado from Feb. 25 through March 2, 2013. Some of the biggest names in snowboarding are confirmed, including Shaun White, Mark McMorris, Kelly Clark, Torah Bright, Jamie Anderson, Iouri Podladtchikov and more, who are all heading to Vail Mountain for the Burton US Open world-class slopestyle and halfpipe competitions.

“The US Open is one of snowboarding’s legendary events, and some of my best competition memories are of competing at Vail, so for me, bringing the two together is all time,” said Shaun White. “I’m excited to compete in Vail’s new pipe and see everyone come out for the next evolution of this contest.”

It all gets started on Wednesday, Feb. 27, with slopestyle semi-finals, which will be more exciting than ever now that slopestyle is an official sport at the 2014 Winter Olympics. At the US Open, the best slopestyle competitors in the world are confirmed to compete, including X-Games slopestyle gold medalist Mark McMorris (CAN), 2012 Burton European Open (BEO) slopestyle winner Aleksander Oestreng (NOR), 2012 US Open slopestyle champ Sebastien Toutant (CAN), and World Snowboard Tour overall title holder Stale Sandbech (NOR), among others. The women’s line-up is equally impressive, with X Games gold medalist and 2012 US Open slopestyle champion Jamie Anderson (USA), 2012 X Games gold medalist Enni Rukajärvi (FIN), Olympian Kjersti Ostgaard Buaas (NOR), three-time BEO Junior Jam winner Ty Walker (USA) and Cilka Sadar (SLO) all confirmed to compete.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, the legendary Burton US Open halfpipe semi-finals begin. The US Open halfpipe rider list is stacked with nine Olympians, including Shaun White (USA), Louie Vito (USA), Greg Bretz (USA), Kazuhiro Kokubo (JPN), Kelly Clark (USA), Elena Hight (USA), Hannah Teter (USA), and Torah Bright (AUS). Also competing are World Snowboarding Championships gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), Queralt Castellet (ESP), Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), Christian Haller (SUI) and 14-year-old halfpipe phenom and 2013 X Games silver medalist Ayumu Hirano (JPN).

Competitors and spectators alike will be in for an amazing week in Vail where they can watch world-class, Olympic-level snowboarding competitions during the day in Golden Peak and soon to be announced top music acts by night in Solaris – all for free. The entire event is open to the public with slopestyle finals taking place on Friday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. (Mountain Time) and halfpipe finals going down on Saturday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. (Mountain Time).

The Dew Tour Mountain Championships kicked off Wednesday with the first day of semi-finalaction at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Wednesday will kick off theweekend of competition with the men’s

snowboard slopestyle semi-finals and the women’s freeski superpipe semi-finals.  Top competitors including Shaun White, Louie Vito, Mark McMorris, Scotty Lago, Tom Wallisch, Nick Goepper, Bobby Brown, Kelly Clark, Spencer O’Brien, Elena Hight and Roz G, are all set to compete on the world-class superpipe and slopestyle course at Breckenridge throughout the weekend.

The Dew Tour 2012 season concludes with an action-packed weekend in Breckenridge that brings more music, lifestyle andfilm elements into the new Dew Tour. The Mountain Championships will feature Recognize: A night of recognition for the action sports film industry,acknowledging the important contributions that film makes to the ski and snowboard industry and recognizing the groundbreaking and game-changing films of the season.  Guests of Film Night, held at the Riverwalk Center on Thursday, Dec. 13 will view segments from the year’s most influential and progressive movies, hear live commentary from the directors, producers and athletes involved in making them and have the chance to vote on their favorites.

Music will also play a big part at the Mountain Championships, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performing a sold out show on Saturday, December 15 at the Riverwalk Center.  Those that don’t have tickets can still get in on the music action on the mountain on Saturday, when DJ duo Two Fresh spin a set during Saturday’s Snowboard Big Air contest under the lights.

The Dew Tour Mountain Championships will be free to attend, giving fans access to be a part of the best snowboarding and freestyle skiing competitions and the Dew Tour Experience, a first class consumer zone featuring autograph signings, giveaways and more.  For more information visitwww.dewtour.com.

Breckenridge Ski Resort – Peak 8

Spectators will be able to access the Slopestyle and Big Air competitions directly from the Peak 8 Base Area; Look for directional signs for detailed access.

For all Superpipe events, spectators can access the venue in the Freeway Terrain park via Rip’s Ride (Chair 7) at the Peak 8 Base Area.  Free foot passenger tickets are available at any Peak 8 ticket window, from guest service personnel or at the chairlift.  Rip’s Ride is for uphill access only, so all foot passenger spectators will be required to walk down from the venue; proper footwear is encouraged.

Skier/Rider access is only available from Rip’s Ride, with a short traverse over to Freeway.

Busses and the BreckConnect Gondola will run late for the nighttime events from the Breckenridge Transportation Center.
