Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour Provides a Sizzling Good Time at Keystone Resort

Is there anything quite like the scent of bacon wafting into the crisp summer mountain air? If that thought gets your mouth watering, be sure to put Keystone Resort’s Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour, June 22-23 on the calendar. Now in its third year, the two-day event will feature more than a ton of Iowa and Colorado bacon along with bacon-inspired cuisine from over 18 food vendors, live music, and samples of Beggin’ Strips® for those with bacon-loving four-legged friends. New this year, the festival has added Colorado’s Biggest Bacon Bloody Mary Bar, sponsored by Hair of the Dawg Bloody Mary Mix, and a bacon education series for those looking to earn a diploma for their knowledge of their favorite pork-tastic treat.

“The Blue Ribbon Bacon Tour believes bacon education is at the core of a healthy bacon economy,” said event co-founder, Brooks Reynolds.

One-day bacon tasting tickets start at only $30, with weekend tasting packages beginning at $50, including an event koozie and souvenir sunglasses. Golf is in full swing at Keystone Resort, as the Keystone Ranch course opens with 18 holes of play Friday, May 31. The Ranch will join the 18 holes of mountain-style play currently available at Keystone’s River Course. Rocky Mountain Endurance (RME) presents the Snake River Festival taking place Saturday, June 29-Sunday, June 30 in River Run Village and in the Keystone Mountain Bike Park. Big Mountain Enduro

The Big Mountain Enduro Series presented by Yeti Cycles is an authentic multi-stage, multi-day annual Enduro series throughout the most picturesque vacation destinations in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. Stopping at Keystone Saturday, July 6-Sunday, July 7, this much anticipated competition offers some of the biggest and most challenging terrain in the Keystone Mountain Bike Park. The race will follow a mix of the European formats; tying in epic backcountry on big terrain, as well as lift-accessed stages blended in along the way. Courses will feature predominantly downhill timed “special” stages linked together by non-timed liaison climbing stages. This rapidly growing discipline combines the physical endurance of cross-country riding with the technical difficulty and excitement of downhill racing. The 2013 Big Mountain Enduro Series will encompass over 40,000 vertical feet of descending world-class singletrack throughout the entire season. Wine and Jazz Festival

Beginning Friday, July 12-Sunday, July 14 Keystone Resort will host the annual Wine and Jazz Festival in River Run Village from 1p.m.-5p.m. Saturday-Sunday and 7p.m.-10p.m. Friday. The Reserve Wine Tasting Dinner in Warren Station Center for the Arts will kick-off the festival Friday evening with an array of the world’s finest wines, classy entertainment and gourmet food. XTERRA Wild Running Festival

XTERRA in-conjunction with Keystone Resort announces a weekend of running events for every age and skill level Saturday, July 13-Sunday, July 14 in Lakeside Village. The weekend will consist of seven trail races ranging from silly to serious as well as music, food, beer & wine, trail running clinics and nightly gatherings. XTERRA has a myriad of trail races on tap for the weekend including their signature event, the XTERRA Wild Obstacle Course Run—inspired by Mother Nature, the course will be tough, muddy and fun with a series of man-made and natural hazards for runners to navigate and conquer. For the 17th year in a row, Keystone Resort will host the annual Bluegrass and Beer Festival Friday, August 2-Sunday, August 4 in River Run Village. Beginning Friday at 8p.m. Warren Station Center for the Arts will present the Blugerass Kick-Off Party with Della Mae. Saturday and Sunday will consist of Bluegrass Seminars at Warren Station Center for the Arts starting at 9a.m. followed by the Shock Top Beer Garden, Festival Food and Kids Crafts running from 12p.m.-5p.m. each day. Cirque Du Wheels
Dates: August 31-September 1

For the first time, Rocky Mountain Endurance is bringing a circus on wheels to Keystone Resort Saturday, August 31-Sunday, September 1 in River Run Village. This weekend-long festival’s main act consists of a 12 hour bike relay race that will begin Sunday morning at 7a.m. and finish at 7p.m. Sunday night. Prior to the big relay race, Saturday’s activities line-up consists of plenty to do including a costume cruiser ride, circus procession on wheels, a beer garden, bonfire, prizes and live music. Beginning Saturday night at 7p.m. live music will hit the stage for a concert to top off the first day of festivities. During the relay race on Sunday the festival will feature carnival games with a ringmaster, live performers as well as an awards ceremony after the finale of the relay race. Taste of Keystone

Coming back to Lakeside Village for the 25th year in a row, The Taste of Keystone happening Sunday, September 1 from 11a.m.-3p.m. allows Keystone festival goers the opportunity to sample a wide variety of cuisine from Keystone’s best restaurants. Featuring tastings from Keystone’s signature AAA four-diamond rated restaurants—Alpenglow Stube, Ski Tip Lodge and the Keystone Ranch as well as food treats from other restaurants such as the Bighorn Steakhouse and the Black Bear Grill, the one-day festival will offer a wider range of flavors in bite-size tastings. Back for its second-year due to popular demand, The Backyard BBQ Rail Jam, part of the A51 River Run Rail Series will take place at the base of the River Run Face across from the Summit Express Chairlift Saturday, September 7. Featuring a multi-rail set-up, participants will have the chance to throw-down their best tricks in front of the judges to snag the top spot and take home sweet prizing. Real snow will be brought in for the event making skiing and snowboarding on the rail set-up similar to in-season conditions. Live music, food and beer will be available throughout the day as well as crowd-giveaways. On Saturday, March 30, girls who participate in Lindsey Vonn’s Ski Girls Rock program will have the special opportunity to enjoy “Lunch with Lindsey” in a private dining room where they will also have an intimate informal discussion with this year’s FIS Alpine World Cup Downhill Champion and Olympic gold medalist. Ski Girls Rock is a premium ski lesson product inspired by Vonn and created exclusively for girls ages 7 to 14 to empower young women, and equip them with the skills and confidence to be successful both on and off the mountain. Sun. April 7th– The Dirty Heads

This SoCal rock/reggae/hip-hop band makes music that represents positivity and good vibes, with a melodic style that includes hip hop and ska punk genres. Their debut album featured one of this decade’s biggest singles, “Lay Me Down”, which spent 11 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Alternative Chart, a record for an independent release.

One of Colorado’s favorite hometown bands, 3OH!3 is the electropop duo of Sean Foreman and Nathanial Motte, who named the band after the area code of their hometown of Boulder, CO. Having collaborated with some of the biggest names in pop, such as Lil’ John, Katy Perry and Ke$ha, 3OH!3 has racked up an impressive resume that’s seen them vying for MTV Video Music Awards, selling out shows worldwide, racking up platinum singles, and creating instant parties at festivals across the globe.

Red Bull Schlittentag

Schlittentag, the German word for “sledding day” translates to daredevils willing to propel themselves on a hand-built sled down a snow-covered hill. What better way to say farewell to an excellent 2012-13 ski season at Keystone Resort and hello to Vail Resort’s new partnership with Red Bull than with its new event, Red Bull Schlittentag, Sunday, April 7. Teams will consist of three people who have free range to create the wildest, fastest sled this side of the Alps. the end of a great 2012-2013 season. Closing weekend, April 6-7, will kick-off Saturday with the last installment in the A51 River Run Rail Series: The Last Grind followed by a free concert in River Run Plaza featuring Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Closing day, Sunday, April 7, will begin with the third annual Slush Cup and end with a new event, the Red Bull Schlittentag. Skiers and riders can also enjoy great late-season conditions, with 18” of new snow falling in the last seven days alone.

Keystone’s closing weekend events line-up begins Saturday, April 6 with the third and final A51 River Run Rail Series event, The Last Grind. The rail jam set-up will be at the base of the River Run slope right next to the Summit Express Chairlift and steps from River Run Village, allowing spectators to come out and watch local athletes display their skills on a multi-rail feature. The event will also feature music and giveaways for the crowd. Check-in and registration will begin at 10:30a.m., followed by qualifying runs beginning at Noon and finals at 2:00p.m.. Awards will follow, crowning the top female and male skiers and snowboarders with great prizes.

In tradition with Keystone’s closing weekend, River Run Plaza will feature a concert, this year headlined by Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Saturday, April 6 at 4:15 p.m. The concert is free, and will kick off at 3:00p.m. with the opening act, following by the headlining show. The plaza will include prime viewing spots at 9280’ Tap House, with plenty of outdoor seating and delicious Happy Hour specials. All of the restaurants and bars surrounding the Plaza will offer terrific food and beverage specials, making it the perfect way to send a Saturday of Spring skiing.

Keystone Resort Celebrates Valentine’s Day with “Love on the Lifts”

Keystone Resort is making sure that singles also enjoy Valentine’s Day fun this year with the Love On The Liftsintroduction of “Love on the Lifts” gondola speed dating. Singles can jump on an 11-minute gondola speed date, with the chance to reconnect that evening at a Valentine’s Day party hosted at 9280’ Tap House. Keystone Resort Receives 11″ of Snow in the Last Seven Days

In the last seven days Keystone Resort has received 11 inches of new snow providing excellent skiing and riding conditions heading into the month of February. The Resort boasts 2,170 acres of

terrain open across 104 trails accessed by 19 lifts providing guests a superb experience when visiting the mountains. In the past 48 hours alone, Keystone’s further peak, The Outback, has received nine inches of new snow making for a wintry powder day at Keystone.

The TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm contest presented by Skullcandy is in its 11th year featuringTransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm Presented by Skullcandy Stops at Keystone Resort nine stops, including one at Keystone Resort Saturday, February 9, along its 2013 tour. This inventive and fresh competition allows up-and-coming snowboarders from around Colorado the opportunity to compete head-to-head for the chance to win sweet prizes as well as snag the top-spot.

Event registration and rider check-in at Keystone Resort will run from 8:00a.m.-10:00a.m. at the Mountain House Base Area. The competition will officially kick-off at 11:00a.m. in the mini-park, specially constructed in the Mountain House Base Area. Contestants will compete in a jam-session format, allowing participants the chance to hit the customized TransAM course features as many times as possible in one hour, while attempting to prove to the judges they have what it takes to move on to the finals. Set-up for the competition will consist of three lines highlighted by eight unique features developed specifically for the TransAm event, giving riders the opportunity to throw down on something new and different. Volcom Stone’s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam amateur snowboard contest returns for its sixth season atKEY7806SNOWBOARDERA51_Chad_Schmidt Keystone Resort giving young snowboarders from around the state the chance to become the next Rail Jam victor.

The event will begin promptly at 8:00a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 with check-in and registration at the Mountain House Base Area. Volcom’s Rail Jam is broken down into four divisions; 15 and up, 16 and over, girls and open (pro-am) with the contest running in a jam format allowing competitors to hit the rail set-up as many times as possible within their division’s 20 minute heat. Judges will award the top-spot based on the tricks the athletes pull, with the opportunity to move on to the 2013 Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Championships at Mammoth Mountain, CA April 20.

Fostering a positive, friendly atmosphere, Volcom offers up a fresh competition set-up consisting of three rails side-by-side that forces competitors to both ride and hike together. New this year, the feature will be set-up at the Mountain House Base Area granting easier spectator access to view the event.
