For quite some time now we have been entertaining rumors for a
possibility of a 2017 Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan but we can
finally confirm today that Rolls Royce will manufacture a brand
The prototype has been spotted testing on official roads. There
are even reports that the vehicle might make its debut earlier
than anticipated. With its biggest rival of old “Bentley”
having already showcased its SUV model dubbed the 2017 Bentley
Bentayga, Rolls-Royce is not going to be outdone. The automaker
has described the vehicle as a “high-sided all-terrain vehicle”
2017 Rolls-Royce Cullinan Exterior
The automaker is yet to reveal any information about this
vehicle’s exterior specifications. The model that is testing on
the roads is disguised in a Phantom II body. However, the
automaker revealed in a press statement that the test mule is
an indication of the SUV’s expected dimensions.
This means that the 2017 Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan will be
around 20 inches shorter than the Phantom but at this size it
will be among the biggest SUVs in the market. According to what
we have seen in our spy shots and videos, the air suspension
seems to be adjustable meaning the vehicle can vary its ground
clearance depending on the ground surface.
The way we know Rolls-Royce, the new model will have an amazing
grandeur and since it is meant to be a market beater, no other
brand is capable of delivering such a car than the Rolls-Royce.
Trademark details of the auto maker will however remain. They
include the RR badge and sculpture upon a chiseled
hood, a chromed grille and thin headlights.
2017 Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan Interior
The interior styling of the 2017 Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan will
feature the best material in the market, even for the base trim
model. The interior will exhibit premiere luxury.
The vehicle will feature customizable wood inserts and premium
hand-stitched leather surfaces. For entertainment, the vehicle
will come with the best infotainment system, audio system,
large and high definition screens. The vehicle will also be
hooked up with the best convenience features and a premium
safety package not forgetting a full package of driving aides.
The 2017 Rolls-Royce SUV Cullinan will provide plenty of
both cargo and passenger space. It will most likely
feature four seats since the rear seats will likely have their
own console for premium comfort and entertainment.
Engine Specs and Performance
Details on the power-train that the vehicle will use are still
a closely guarded secret by the automaker. However, considering
2017 Bentley Bentayga will feature a 6.0-liter
W-12 engine that will produce 600 hp, Rolls-Royce must feature
a power-train with high capability.
We believe the automaker will go with a 6.6 L V-12 Ghost
twin-turbo engine and upgrade it to offer excellent output,
potentially the best in the niche. This unit must send power
beyond 600 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. The engine will likely
be paired to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission system and
power channeled to all wheels to increase its operation in
Some quarters are pushing forward rumors of a hybrid
power-train but considering Rolls-Royce hasn’t used a hybrid
power-train in any of its vehicles as of 2015, the automaker
might push it to the next series. However, the automaker might
decide to adopt one from the parent company BMW since the
Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus will feature hybrid
Price and release date
Just like other specs, the auto maker hasn’t released any
information on its official price or release date. Considering
Bentley will debut earlier and at that point will be world’s
most expensive SUV, Rolls-Royce’s Cullinan might wrestle that
title from their grip when it comes out.
The 2017 Bentley Bentayga will start at around
200,000 so, Rolls-Royce might go with something in the range of
$ 300,000 and above. Its Ghost brand retails at $ 250, 000 so,
we expect the “Cullinan’ to go beyond that price tag. The model
is set to be launched in 2017 with sales commencing in 2018.
