2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2

Traditionally, Lamborghini was known to offer superfast cars on
rear-wheel drive. However, in the recent past, the automaker
has adopted four-wheel in its new cars. This left 2-wheel drive
enthusiasts on the cold. However, 2-wheel fanatics now have a
reason to smile as the automaker recently showcased the most
affordable yet very capable version of the Huracan supercar
which will be offered in a 2-wheel drive setup. The new model
is christened the “ 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 ”.

Read along to find out what Lamborghini is offering with the
new Huracan:

2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 Exterior

Visually, the LP580-2 has borrowed much of its styling from the
4-wheel LP610-4. In fact, the difference between the two
vehicles is only noticeable when they are standing
side-by-side. The front fascia of the new model has been
uniquely redesigned and it presents the most recognizable
differences between the two models. The front features a 3-part
grille design as opposed to the LP610-4 2-part honeycomb
grille. The front also features a modified bumper with huge air
intakes.  The side vents on the new model feature flat
canards that help channel more cooling air to the engine. These
also help enhance down-force on the vehicle’s front axle.

At the back, the vehicle features a modified diffuser. The rear
also features a three-part grille slightly below the rear
spoiler and redesigned taillights. The supercar rides on a set
of 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZero tires.
Dimension-wise, the Huracan is 175.55 inches long, 75.74 inches
wide, 45.86 inches tall and has a 103.14-inch long wheelbase.
The use of a 2-wheel drive setup has helped reduce around 72.6
pounds from the vehicle’s curb weight compared to the LP610-4.
The vehicle weighs 3062 lbs. Lamborghini has also managed
to achieve a 2:3 weight distribution for the vehicle.

The automaker also revealed that the vehicle uses a unique
structure for anti-roll bars and coils based on a dual wishbone
suspension which helps improve its torsional rigidity.

2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 Interior

Compared to its sister the LP610-4, the LP580-2 interior is
largely unchanged. However, Lamborghini has tweaked the cabin
to rival the likes of McLaren 570S and Ferrari 488GTB. The
vehicle’s cabin looks luxurious and very attractive. It
features two sports seats wrapped in leather with an attractive
contrast stitching. The seats are adequately bolstered to
provide the required support when you decide to go all out
flying down the roads.  Its surfaces are also covered in
Alcantara. It also features a redesigned instrument cluster
which is hooked up with an aviation-like theme.  The most
attractive feature is a 12.3-inch display which is used to
control most of the vehicle’s functions.

If you have been in a fighter jet’s cockpit, then you will
instantaneously notice the similarities with the Huracan
LP580-2 cabin. The cabin also features a red-levered select
button which acts as the start button. This button design is
adopted from the fighter jet’s ‘weapon select button”.

For more features, buyers can opt for the customization program
dubbed the “Ad Personam individual personalization plan”.
Before I forget, there is an option for three extra driving
modes which are Corsa, Strada and Sport which help improve the
vehicle’s steering and help improve its driving experience.

Engine Specs and Performance

If you are uninitiated in this Lamborghini’s supercars, you
might be wondering why the funny suffix in the model’s nametag.
Well, to clear the air for you, the numbers indicate the amount
of power the model’s engine produces and the type of drive the
engine is connected to.

The supercar 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 is motivated by a
5.2 L, V-10 engine which produces 580 hp @ 8000 rpm and 398
lb-ft of torque @ 6,500 rpm. This is the same engine on the LP
610-4. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic
transmission that channels power to the rear wheels hence the
“2” on the name.

The engine powers the Huracan to run from 0-60 mph in 3.4
seconds towards achieving a top speed of 199 mph. The 4-wheel
drive LP610-4 beats the LP580-2 slightly by 0.2 seconds on the
0-60 mph run and has a higher top speed at 202 mph.

The engine is further equipped with cylinder deactivation which
helps improve its fuel economy.  This feature sees up to
five of its ten cylinders temporarily deactivated when it is
not necessary to use the full engine capacity. Due to this, the
Huracan returns an impressive 19.8 mpg on the highway, 13.7 mpg
in city and 18.9 mpg on combined drives.
