2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR

I didn’t believe the rumors until I saw the leaked photos
online. Now it is confirmed that for the first time ever, a
Jaguar is going to wear the SVR badge. The SVR badge represents
the most potent variants from the Jaguar and Landrover’s
Special Vehicle Operations.

This undertaking has brought the likes of the Range Rover Sport
SVR and the F-Type Project 7. Already the F-Type R is pretty
impressive but the SVR beats it pants down on all fronts. The
vehicle will be offered in both coupe and convertible body
styles. The vehicle is expected to make a debut at the upcoming
Geneva Auto Show.

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR Exterior

We have all to agree that the F-Type is one hell of a fast
beauty. Jaguar just got everything right, the dimensions and an
ideal mix of elegance and aggressiveness. The SVR takes these
impressive cues and then adds an array of functional
adjustments using the Project 7 as inspiration resulting in a
spectacular car.

Most of the new tweaks are aimed at reducing its drag and
increasing its down-force, factors which are important in super
fast cars. At the front, the SVR flaunts larger air intakes
which suck in huge chunks of air to cool the large fire
spitting monster inside. This air exits through louvers on the
hood.

On the sides, the SVR sports side air intakes which cool its
big brakes exiting through the skirts behind its fenders. The
vehicle also features a large splitter while under its belly
you will find a flat under body that culminates in a redesigned
rear diffuser.

To complete the profile  are quad exhaust tips and a large
carbon-fiber wing which can retract for higher speeds by
activating the V-Max mode or extend for more down-force.
To reduce its drag even further, its door handles tuck
themselves in while the vehicle is in motion. The SVR rides on
20-inch wheels. I hoped the automaker would bring the Project
7’s D-Type-esque’s roll over hoop only to disappoint me.

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR Interior

As you would expect, the cabin is well laid out.  The
interior resembles that of a standard F-Type model. However,
everything is upgraded and looks more lavish and lively than
the standard model cabins.

Occupants will enjoy its comfortable seats which are well
supported. The seats are wrapped in quilted leather with
contrast stitching.  Buyers have an option for heated
seats. Its3-spoke steering wheel is also wrapped in leather and
is integrated with anodized aluminum shift paddles.

The SVR moniker is affixed on different places in the cabin
such as on the doorsill, aluminum paneling and on headrests.
The ambient cabin lighting can be customized. Other features
include dual-zone climate control, push button ignition and
smart entry.

Buyers have a choice between two infotainment system which are
InControl Touch and the premium InControl Touch Plus. The base
system comes with an 8-inch touch-screen mounted on the center
console and a 5-inch digital instruments panel tucked behind
the steering wheel. Its other features include navigation,
Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM radio, text-to-voice capability,
iPod, USB and auxiliary inputs and the automakers Remote
assistance and emergency response systems not forgetting app
integration. What’s more, it comes with a 180-watt stereo with
6-speakers and 8-channels. The system also comes with options
such as DAB radio receiver, tracker, SD card integration and a
380-watt stereo with 10 speakers and 12 channels.

If you want more, you can opt for the premium InTouch Plus
infotainment system which adds HDD navigation,  CD/DVD
player and a 770-watt stereo with 12 speakers and 16 channels.

Engine Specs and Performance

If you thought the F-Type is fast, you should think again. The
2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR comes with the same 5.0 L, V-8 engine as
the F-Type R but the engine is tuned to deliver a whopping 567
hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This is 17 lb-ft more than the
Project 7’s 502 lb-ft of torque.

With this power, the SVR bolts from 0-62 mph in just 3.7
seconds almost a half a second faster than the Type R which
does it in 4.1 seconds. With all systems blazing, the SVR can
hit 194 mph for the convertibles and 200 mph for the coupes.
Unlike the F-Type and F-Type S models which are offered with
6-speed manual transmission and RWD, the SVR is hooked up with
an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD.

The engine also features an adaptive technology and Dynamic
Launch Mode as standard. Under normal driving conditions, the
AWD system channels power to the rear wheels but can still vary
the split and channel almost 90% of the torque to the front
wheels if need be. The vehicle also features active electronic
differential which is integrated with the ABS, active torque
vectoring as well as stability and traction control which
ensure optimum torque distribution.
