2017 Buick Lacrosse

For years, Buick has been offering a blown up and to some
extent lackluster though comfortable and near-premium sedan.
However, this is going to be a thing of the past as Buick is
set to release a new 2017 Buick Lacrosse that looks leaner and
more stylish than anything we have ever seen from the
automaker.

Finally, Buick seems to have this segment nailed down. Signals
that Buick was planning to take a different design approach
started when they debuted the Avenir concept last year at
Detroit Auto Show in January. The concept left us hoping for a
brand new Buick to target traditional automakers in the luxury
market but it seems the LaCrosse will adopt the Avenir’s cues
leaving the concept just like that…a concept. The new LaCrosse
was first showcased at the previous Los Angeles Auto Show and
is currently on display at Chicago Auto Show.

Here at NiceCarsInfo.com believe that the new expressive design
represents a break from their uninspiring past and showcases
the automakers progress; only that we wish it could have come
earlier. Read along to find out the new changes Buick has
brought to the LaCrosse;

2017 Buick Lacrosse Exterior

When you look at the new LaCrosse from the front end, you will
immediately be drawn to its stylish grille similar to that we
saw on the Avenir
concept. This presents a more gorgeous interpretation of
the signature Buick waterfall grille with active shutters.
Flanking the grille is a pair of redesigned HID headlights that
look much slimmer and longer.

The design which is also adopted from the concept makes the
vehicle look more aggressive. The vehicle also features LED
DRLs.  Below the grille sits a redesigned bumper that
features slim but wide air intakes and a chrome strip surround.
Above the grille is a new sculpted hood that enhances the
vehicle’s stylish look.

Switching to the rear, the design presents a significant step
from the previous models. It looks more modern and refined. The
deck is much longer with a cleaner design. Gone is the previous
model’s thick chrome trim which has been replaced by a cleaner
design. The new LED taillights look slimmer and extend into the
trunk lid and also feature chrome inserts (the only feature
retained from the outgoing model).

The new 2017 Buick Lacrosse rides on a set of 18-inch wheels as
standard though 20-inch wheels are available.

Dimension-wise, the new LaCrosse is 0.6 inches longer at 197.5
inches and 1.6 inches shorter at 57.5 inches. Its wheelbase is
2.7 inches longer at 114.4 inches making the vehicle look
sportier. The width remains unchanged at 73.2 inches.

2017 Buick Lacrosse Interior

It is not only the exterior that has received a major overhaul;
the cabin too has been restyled using the Avenir as
inspiration. The new wrap-around dash is more stylish courtesy
of its new horizontal and curvy lines, a large wood trim on the
passenger’s side and a fine chrome trim. The vehicle also
features a “floating” center console which is wrapped in
leather with a dose of wood trim. The console is also tall and
very wide like those of bigger sedans.

As you would expect, perforated leather is the standard
upholstery on the seats. The shifter and the steering wheel are
also wrapped in leather. However, depending o the trim level,
you will find French stitching, aluminum sill plates and wood
trim. The cabin is offered in three fashion-inspired trim
choices which are the Dark Atmosphere, Jet Black and Shale and
Brandy. The cabin also sports a new center stack featuring a
large touch-screen and two A/C vents. The area between the
shifter features a number of knobs and buttons but is less
cluttered than that of the outgoing model.

The cabin is illuminated by Moon White ambient lighting. Other
features include; a heated, tilt and telescoping steering
wheel, 8-way adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats with
a massage function, dual-zone automatic climate control
and a premium Bose sound system.

The vehicle is also packed with various technology features.
They include Buick’s latest IntelliLink displayed on an 8-inch
touch-screen. The system integrates Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay. These features enable the driver to select Smartphone
apps via the touch-screen interface. These features are
controlled via voice commands or trough a button on the
steering wheel.

The cabin is quieter courtesy of an Active noise cancellation
and addition of various acoustic features like the acoustic
wheelhouse liners, triple sealed doors and acoustic-laminated
windshield among others.

For safety, the Lacrosse features ten airbags, lane keep
assist, front pedestrian braking, forward automatic braking,
lane change alert, side blind zone alert and automatic park
assist, a rear vision camera and adaptive cruise control among
others.

Engine Specs

For 2017, the Buick Lacrossse will come with a single
drive-train. The unit is a 3.6 L, V-6 capable of 305 hp and 268
lb-ft of torque. The 2.4 L, 4-cylinder engine is no longer
offered. This engine is borrowed from the Cadillac XT5
crossover. The new engine presents 1hp and 4 lb-ft of torque
improvement from the outgoing model. The engine is mated to an
8-speed automatic transmission system.

The vehicle will be offered in FWD as standard with an option
for AWD. Buick is yet to disclose official fuel economy,
acceleration and top speed details. We will be back with that
information as soon as it becomes available. To help save more
gas, the engine is hooked up with a stop/start technology and
the active fuel management system.

Price and release date

Just as with engine specs, the price of the 2017 Buick LaCrosse
is still a mystery. However, we don’t believe the new sedan
price will vary much from the current models.  Currently,
the base FWD 1SV Group starts at $31,990 with the
top-of-the-range FWD Leather Group starting at $ 36,650. AWD
models cost much more.

If you are around Chicago, make a stop at the Chicago Auto Show
to get a glimpse of the Buick LaCrosse. The exhibition runs
from the 13th to 21st February. The
LaCrosse will hit dealerships in the summer of this year.

Competition

The new LaCrosse will face rivalry from the Lincoln
MKZ, Hyundai Azera, Toyota Avalon
and the Acura TLX.
