2017 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTS

According to credible reports, Aston Martin is set to replace
the Vantage lineup for the 2018 model year. However, before
that happens, Aston Martin has designed a new V-8 Vantage
specifically for the U.S. market. Unlike in other markets where
the model is sold in both GT and S variants, the automaker has
consolidated them to a single version dubbed the 2017 Aston
Martin V8 Vantage GTS.

It will only be available in the U.S. Actually; this is your
last chance to lay your hands on a naturally aspirated V-8
Vantage because its successor engine will feature
twin-turbochargers. The new model is offered in both coupe and
convertible bodies. Two trims will be offered i.e. Sport and
Lux. Read along to find out what the new model packs:

2017 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTS Exterior and interior

Aston Martin has differentiated the two trims to stand apart
from each other. As such, when you chose one, you have to
sacrifice some of the other trim’s features.

The Sport trim

For the Sport trim, the model features an array of sporty
features. Aston Martin has upgraded its exterior design by
hooking it up with a black paint finish on the grille and
headlight bezels. Carbon-fiber has also been used on a number
of surfaces. On the inside, the model features a choice of
either black or gray upholstery. Alcantara is also available.

The model’s center stack also features a carbon-fiber trim
while its rotary controls have a black finish. For extra
performance, the model features a sport-tuned suspension.

The Lux trim

The Lux trim, on the other hand is more comfort-oriented as
opposed to performance. It features a firm suspension rather
than a sport-tuned suspension. On the outside, it is
differentiated by glossy-black pieces on the front splitter, a
bright-colored grille, a rear diffuser, new vent strakes on the
hood and new headlights and window surrounds.

Sliding inside, the cabin looks more luxurious than that of the
Sport trim. Leather is used unsparingly on the seats, on the
dash, door panels and almost on every other surface.  Its
switch gears feature a satin chrome finish. The model is fitted
with a 1,000-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system as standard
unlike in the Lux where it is offered as an option.

Engine Specs and performance

Under the hood, the 2017 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTS still
features the naturally aspirated 4.7 L, V-8 engine. The
automaker claims that the engine has been tweaked to produce 44
hp and 361 lb-ft of torque, a 10 hp hike from the current

I understand that the successor will be hooked up with a turbo
4.0 V-8 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG. Power is transferred
to the rear wheels via a 7-speed single-clutch automatic
system. Like the 2017  V-12
Vantage S, the automaker has also decided to offer the V-8
vantage GTS with a 6-speed manual gearbox to give drivers a
more engaged driving experience.

Aston Martin argues that almost half of performance-oriented
car buyers prefer manual models for a more spirited driving.
Therefore, the decision of many automakers to do away with
manual systems in their performance vehicles is leaving them
out “high and dry”.

Price and release date

The coupe will set you back $137,820 and can go higher
depending on the options you choose. A convertible starts at
$152,320.  Only 100 models of the V-8 Vantage GTS will be
produced and according to the automaker, the models have
already sold out.

If you feel this model is a little off to your liking or
performance, Aston Martin readily offers the V-12 Vantage S
which packs a 565 hp engine under its hood. It has an MSRP of
only $186,295.
